Did you know that the majority of people that use social media don’t use sound! In fact, it is researched that 85% of users don’t use sound when watching videos on social media.

Subtitles and captions are fantastic for videos – not only does it reflect the way your audience is using social media, but it is also a fantastic way to be accessible to those with hearing impairments.

How to Use Instagram Captions

Instagram has recently started testing a new feature that automatically adds subtitles or captions to your stories.

The new feature can be be found when you record or upload a video to Instagram stories, swipe up to view the features and click on the sticker that is called ‘captions'.

Once you add the sticker to your Instagram video, you will see the app bring up a 'transcribing audio' message, after a few seconds it will automatically generate captions or subtitles to your story.

The Instagram captions are surprisingly accurate - and don’t worry if there is a word or sentence or punctuation that is incorrect, you can simply click on the Instagram captions and change the word that is incorrect.

You can choose from four different font options for these captions as well, letting you keep your creative style for your stories.
